No ACEN or Anime Boston in 2013

As I mentioned in the previous post, burying the lead, I’m clearing my convention calendar for the near term until I’m ready to put out Part Four in book form. This means I won’t be attending many of my usual shows in 2013, including Anime Central and Anime Boston in the spring.

This is a painful decision, because I’ve attended ACEN since 2004 without fail, but it’s getting to the point where it doesn’t make sense to go when I don’t have anything new to promote. It’s possible I’ll have the book finished by the time May rolls around, but there’s no guarantee of that. It might be working its way back from the printer. Or I may still be touching up the artwork and getting it ready to send off. Either way, it makes more sense to figure out my touring schedule after I’ve finished the book, not before.

So, if you don’t see me at the usual conventions next year, it’s not because I’m dead or have fallen off the map. I’m just taking a break and gathering my energy so I can make a strong return.

Anime Boston was great! (Also, this week’s update will be late.)

Just a quick reminder that this week’s page will be late. I should have the next page ready to post on Thursday. I’ll let you know if that changes.

Thanks to everyone who came by my table at Anime Boston this weekend to say hello. You guys made my weekend! It’s always gratifying to have a chance to talk with you all in person. I’m very happy that the story I’m telling is meeting your approval. While I always hope to able to produce more of it at once, I’m happy to know you guys still stick with me despite the fact the story only updates once a week.

I just want you all to know how much I appreciate your support. Thank you all!

April Conventions coming up!

I’m gearing up to head off to the first batch of conventions for the year starting next week with Anime Boston! I’ll be in Artist Alley at table 108 this year. While the next book isn’t quite ready, I’ll be there with plenty of books, prints, artwork, and doing quick ink drawings for anyone who asks! Come by and say hello.

Then, on April 20th-22nd I’ll be in St. Louis for my yearly homecoming to Anime St. Louis! Yes, you may not know it, but I grew up in the St. Louis area, and it’s always a treat to not only to be invited back to such a wonderful, welcoming convention, but also to see my hometown. I look forward to sharing it with you all.

Then, while I’m in the region, I’ll be putting in a limited appearance at Anime Central. Due to some scheduling difficulties, I won’t have my own table this year, but I’ll be sharing table space with my long-time buddy Tim Broderick, author the exceptional Odd Jobs series. It’ll be great to be in Chicago, and I’m looking forward to getting out from behind the table for a change and stretching my legs a bit. Thanks again for the help, Tim!

If you’re planning to come to any of these shows, come visit! And if you’re not, you should come anyway!
