END ACT I
10.27.1998 – 11.09.2009
Thus ends the first PS storyline. It took over ten years to complete, kicking and screaming at times, but there it is. I did not intend to create a webcomic in the beginning. Rather it was always intended to be a series of books. However, I do not regret taking it online for a moment. Thank you all for reading and for encouraging me along the way. I could not have finished it without you all.
What’s next? As I’ve hinted on my blog and in the comments section, I will be taking a break for the rest of the year, in part to get Part Three ready for press and get plans together to promote in in the new year. There are also a number of small projects I’ve been putting off in order to finish this, and I intend to finally get to them.
However, this isn’t the end for Kate and Mike. Oh, no. PS will relaunch next year with a new look, new story, and new website. I have high hopes for a triumphant return, and look forward to getting back to the story after taking the necessary time to prepare it. I do not have a definite launch date set, but I promise to not keep you waiting any longer than necessary. I will have a better idea once I get Part Three off to press.
In the meantime, keep an eye on this space. I will be posting regular updates and goodies in the meantime, including lots sketches, background material, and footnotes to the story as I get the book ready to print.
Thanks again for your support and patience.

WOOHOO!!! Can’t wait for the next chapter!! ^_^
Me too! Now that I’ve got this website finished, I can get back to writing!
Man oh man, you are by far one of the best out there. Your attention to detail (cars, locations, and the guns, amazing job on the guns) amazing characters, and amazing story have me hooked. Is that to much amazing? I think not. Amazing. Ill keep coming back and hoping/praying for more. =D
Amazing.
^this sums up all I could hope to say.
Grats again… This ended comic up on piperka.net btw
…Wow. I will admit, when my brother told me to check out this comic, I was a bit leery. You managed to exceed all my expectations for this, in both art and plot. Now I can’t wait for the next part!
Man, this comic is astounding. Within just this first couple of chapters, it has already catapulted into my top 5 (I follow around 55 webcomics currently)
I love the plot, characters, and the relationships between them, Truly great work. The attention to detail is second to none.
I really hope this comic continues, I see that the last page was posted in November of 2009… this comic will continue to update, right? Sorry if that question is asked often…I was leery about beginning this comic due to that, as I always feel crushed when a good story is left unfinished (Damn you George R. R. Martin!) I am glad I gave it a shot though. A truly wonderful ride.
Yes, I will be continuing the story in ACT II this spring. Watch for updates to resume sometime in May. I’ll announce the official date on the main page when I nail it down.
So glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, quick reply. Thank you for that.
As far as enjoying it…I’m not certain it is possible to NOT enjoy it. The art quality is… well, astronomical.
Showed this to my mom and grandpa (Both are artists themselves, the former is an art teacher and the latter makes a living off of sculptures, painting, etc) and they told me to pass on their appreciation as well.
Once again, thank you for sharing your art and story with us online.
By the by, in that interview you did I saw that you were planning on consolidating the three books into one large tomb… is there any idea as to a date that that will happen, or is it going to be three separate books for a while longer? I would prefer to buy something like a large tomb than separate books, but if that is not going to happen for a while I’ll go ahead and get the bundle pack thingy.
While collected ACT I is probably in the cards at some point, it won’t be anytime soon. I’ve still got a mound of Parts 1-3 on hand that will probably last me another couple of years, unless PS suddenly becomes the next ‘Twilight’…
I have to agree with mason just got done reading this for the 2 time i i cant wait for act 2 I am very glad i found this in the list of top web comic. this is now 1 of my top 10 web comic.
I loved every second of this story, and once again I’m left with the depressing feeling of having to wait for more pages. I can’t wait to meet you at Anime Boston 2010, and I’ll be sure to buy all the volumes if not more.
Absolutely awesome webcomic, can’t wait for the next part
Absolutely fascinating read.
Congrats on the magnificent art!
You know, however, that reality is stranger than fiction,
in the mid seventeen hundreds, 180 people where murdered by
so-called “wolves” or “La BĂȘte du GĂ©vaudan”
It is thought today that the crimes where committed by a group
of crypto-sadists from the King’s court who hurriedly got themselves put in charge of capturing “The BEAST”.

One of the survivors, a teenager that happened to be
an expert in Greco-Roman wrestling, almost captured the “beast”…
He swore that he knew very well the difference between a bear and a wolf and the “beast” was neither…IT WAS A HUMAN,
dressed in a sewed up wolfskin!!!
While waiting for the next installment, here’s more
werewolf, vampires and demons in the
enthralling:

gah, no! not a cliffhanger! >.<
Ahh, You Sir are a master of the pen, in more ways than one, and this piece shows it. With your commentary on each page and the work done in not only the writing but your photo references as well are a wondrous insight to those of us who would like to contribute to the world of entertainment such as this marvelous work that you have graced our eyes with. Now I may be saying only good things about this, and that is because I have no beef with it, there are no things that I can find in your work, this truly is the caliber of a Magnum Opus, and with that said, I cannot wait for the next part. Thank you for this work.
!) Nobody comment about my name, please. This is simply the username I use for everything. It is not meant ironically.
2) To quote many, I’m hooked. There are amazing details and a great storyline. Will Kate ever control her inner beast?
Hi,
I just want to echo all the “you’re one of the best out there” comments. I read a _lot_ of comics, and this one is way, way up there–art, writing, character development, everything. Thanks!
Just found this and read through it all today… amazing. Can’t wait to see how the story progresses
In response to were… Kate did say those other officers didn’t look human, so I say it’s reasonable to assume that other people have already controlled whatever this transformation turns out to be
[...] hiatus on Tuesday, 1 June, as Part 4 kicks off the start of Act II. Considering that Act I took more than ten years (including the self-publishing of three books) to complete, a half-year hiatus ain’t so [...]
I LOVE IT!!!!! I saw it above my usual Girl Genius and decided to take a look (the art work drew me in!), now I’m hooked and can’t wait for the next part.
For Dirk: How often will you be putting up new pages?
Will it be catch as catch can, or do you think you will have a regular schedule?
Every Tuesday!
Thank you! I’m very glad you enjoyed it.
WOW!!! That was a seriously FAST response! Thank you for the update, I’ll be waiting with baited (but not dog) breath!
I just found this site a few days ago, and I am very impressed by the quality of your work.
Your details of the city remind me strongly of Kenichi Sonoda with ‘Gunsmith Cats’ and ‘Riding Bean’, which are 2 of my favorites.
Guess I found number 3 now.
Yeah, Sonada’s one of my favorites, too.
Glad you like the comic!
Stumbled upon this webcomic after clicking on a link on the Demon Eater (http://www.drunkduck.com/Demon_Eater/) webcomic. Read in the last 24 hours. Super amazing webcomic! I love it!
Hope there will be an ACT I “Collector’s Edition” comic book for sale sometime
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
In all honesty, it may be awhile before there’s a “Collector’s Edition.” I still have too many books to get rid of first, so don’t hold your breath.
i like it but…
Didn’t you say “fuck this comic” about 30 pages ago? If you don’t like it, go away… and get your head examined, cause you got issues if you think this isn’t top of the line professional work.
Congratulations on wrapping up the first volume, I’ve been reading since the beginning, all them years ago. Persistance pays!
man this is one of the best comics i’ve read in a long time, i just looked at the clock and realized i’ve been here for 4 hours! i haven’t been this engrossed with a comic since i found two-kinds!
I read two-kinds too. The art in this comic is awesome! In my books, Paradigm Shift is tied with Off-White for top webcomic.
