Wolf of San Gimignano

Wolf of San Gimignano

Author's Notes:

Submitted by my Dad!

Last spring my parents went to Italy, and upon their return, my dad sent me this:

The photo is from San Gimignano, billed as one of the best preserved medieval towns in Italy. I was walking up the main street toward the town square when I spotted this character and captured him for you. He was down a short staircase in a passageway leading to a small museum in the ground floor of a shop or house. Just a little creepy. Those aren’t rocks lining the walls.

I wonder what that museum was about.

a quick search brought up something about the “san gimignano museo della tortura”, also known as “museo della tortura e di criminologia medievale” or “medieval criminal and torture museum”.
wasn’t able to find a website or detailed traveling guide though, only some entries at general traveling sites (http://tinyurl.com/23jhfak and http://tinyurl.com/2exqnky).
