NPR a couple weeks back was discussing Manga, and it's potential here in the US for advertisement or a media of it's own. The Japanese Prime Minister I believe, is a huge Manga Fan, and wants to use "Manga-plomacy" to spread Japanese culture, or at least use Manga as a conduit to further Japanese interests abroad. Who needs fleets and sneak attacks, use Pop Culture... it's worked for the US with Disney and Star Wars, right?

I'll see if I can scrounge a link.
