I don't know about you guys, but I need in a big way to design a bunch of stuff for my thing, and I imagine some of you guys might need to thumbnail some stuff too.  So here's a dump thread for concept designs and series bible type things.  I'll probably have some new stuff for this thread later today, in case it looks stupid that I'm starting it with no art.

This has been a defacto go-to site for most things military that I've used for years...

www.army-technology.com/

The cool thing about it is that it is a lobby site that keeps changing as tech improves, and it's not just guns...

I might scan in a couple of the concept drawings I've done... probably not many, considering the age of many of them and how much the designs have been changing, but I might just drop a few in here later today!

An as yet unnamed powered armor:

That looks neat... though, I've got a question: if it's powered armour, shouldn't the arms also be armoured? After all, increasing upper body strength would be a good thing for a fighter.

This is an old drawing from a couple years ago, and there are some elements that I hate (pose, the hand, etc) but I like the overall design enough that anything I've done since of the character has built on variations of it.

Rather than fill up the page with the goddamned huge image, here is a link.

That's one of my main characters in full battle gear, by the name of Baruda. His entire race is a group of magically gifted lizard men called "Gauffine" (dear god, where do I come up with these names) who reside side by side with the three more humanoid races in my story. The gun design has been drastically changed in later drawings...

...like this

Which is just a whole bunch of weapons and armour as used by the different races.

I like to approach this kind of thing from a "form follows function" mentality. What makes this power armor? Magic? Mechanism? Servo motors? Bio-active fibers? This looks nice, but I get no sense of power from it nor the source of that power.

Oh, I didn't mean powered armor in that sense.  Well, I did, but this is one design of a line of armors, most of which are powered, and this one isn't so much (just lower torso augmentation through exterior artificial muscle), it just gives flight capabilities.  However, it's modular in that powered components can be fitted onto the arms and legs if you want strength enhancement as well.

Striker, I'm getting a chinese/japanese vibe from that stuff, particularly the dude on the weapons page.

That's interesting. The Shiagai took some inspiration from the Samurai (and a lot of other warrior cultures, including european knights) and their sword is meant to be in many ways a straight edged Katana (and, okay, their spears are a straight ripoff of a naginata). Outside of that, oriental influences weren't put in intentionally... hmm. Do you know what, specifically, is giving off that vibe?

I'm not getting the oriental vibe as much from the sketch... I find just as much medieval Europe.

Sort of reminds me of exo-squad uniforms, when not in their spacecraft or frames.
