The Interstate system is great, so are the smaller US highways (route 30 in illinois goes coast to coast).

Well, we're only driving back to Chicago. Flying the rest of the way to and from the west coast.

So long as you got good weather, lots of sunflower seeds and camera to document the roadtrip... you're set. and it's all a business, so hopefully the darn gas prices won't kill you too much.

I actually drove up the coast about three years ago and took a shit ton of pictures. That's some gorgeous country.
Too bad I don't have time for a repeat this year. I get to experience driving down the East Coast this time.

You taking 95 then? I don't envy you. Now if you can do a detour through the applachians, do so. Beatiful country.

Yeah, looks like 95 is going to be the route we'll have to take. It'll be from Hartford to NYC, and then from NYC to Baltimore.

Ouch. When I was stationed at Andrews AFB outside of DC I knew alot of people who'd drive to NYC, and points North from the area. on a GOOD day, you can do it in 5 hours.
Baltimore... crazy memories... mostly involve the room spinning around and me being kicked out of a club for getting sick on the bathroom attendent. Man, that was awesome... I mean it. I wasn't hungover the next day, though the people at the club were amazed to see me ALIVE. I had to apologize to the dude. I'm a sucker for chicks with booze, in bikini's.

Well, straight mileage-wise Hartford to NYC is just over 2 hrs. If we go into the city on Sunday evening, perhaps we'll get a slight break on traffic. We'll need to figure out where to stash the car for the next few days, but hopefully my friend there can track down a good deal for daily parking rates. I don't want to have to drive there more than just the in and out of Manhatten hell.
We'll see.
As for the drive down to Baltimore, we'll just have to suck it up and deal. At least there will be a few days in-between the drives, so we'll have a breather.
