Okay, continuing on with this scene in thumbnail form. There’s been some confusion over what’s going on with this, so I’ll clarify:

I am switching over to a batch update system for Paradigm Shift starting in June after A-KON, when I will post the complete version this current scene in its entirety. This scene is clocking in at 8 pages or so, so it won’t be quite ready before the end of the month. In the meantime, I’m posting the thumbnails for the scene to ease the transition. Once I make the switch, I won’t post thumbnails anymore. Just completed entire scenes.

I’m still working out precisely how to handle this on main page, but it may be as simple as a big link to the beginning of the scene. I’ll play around with it. I’ll be doing a bigger overhaul of the website later in the year, so letting me know how it works for you will definitely be helpful.

Mostly recovered from traveling at this point. I came back with con crud and it destroyed my productivity last week. Hope to return to a more regular routine this week.

Thanks everybody for understanding the need to experiment on changing up my process, even though it’s in the middle of the story here. This is been something that has been weighing on me for quite some time. This feels like the right choice. Paradigm Shift has always been a graphic novel series first and a webcomic second in my heart, and I feel I need to treat it that way. Obviously, I’m remaining committed to publishing on the web, since that’s how this all got its start, but developing a publishing schedule that will play well with the process of doing the comic will only make it a better story in the end.

Again, I hope to continue the dialogue here. If you know of other comics that do the batch update thing and like how they go about it, please feel free to link to examples.

March 29th, 2012 – Yesterday I finally completed the last of the “Ghost in the Shell” master studies. It’s been a super fun and super helpful exercise. After 238 days, I’ve found my speed and inking ability has vastly improved.

I’ve something new lined up next. I’ve also made the decision to move the Daily Art away from this site over to a Tumblr account, where it fits in a little better. So tune into my Tumblr tomorrow for something completely different!

Last week of thumbnails. I’m just getting back from Chicago today. I’ve gotten a much needed, and I’ll be I should be back on track next week.

Edit: After several great conversations with some of you at AnimeSTL and ACEN as well as in the comment threads on last week’s page, I’m taking the idea of doing monthly batch updates very, very seriously. I’d like to continue this conversation with you.

As I’m getting ready to get on a plane this morning, I’m contemplating making the transition this month. I’m coming home to a long list of commissions to do, and a web novella to illustrate on top of my regular work for PS, so this may be an ideal time.

To ease the transition, how would you feel if I just continue to post thumbnails of the rest of this scene, and then dump the finished version on you at the beginning of June?
