Another anatomical comparison study. One of the trickier puzzles I faced was figuring out how to handle the transition from five toes to four. While canines typically only have dewclaws on their forelimbs, I have seen a few dogs that had them on their back feet as well. The most obvious route was to simply turn the big toe into a similar vestigial digit, though I contemplated keeping the big toe, presumably so it could aid in balancing during bipedal movement. However, I ultimately dismissed the idea because it didn’t conform with my other decisions to go with more true-to-life anatomical parallels.
