Paradigm Shift Vol. 4 is coming!

So, I’ve been working on Paradigm Shift Vol. 4, and I’m happy to announce that Issue #4 (out of 5) is now complete!

Last year I revisited the story and decided it was worth completing the book. I’ve gone back and revised story and artwork to turn it into a more self-contained installment for the series.

I released Issue #1 with little to no fanfare last fall at M.I.C.E. which compiles the first 50 revised pages of “Part Four: Flight”. This spring I released Issues #2 & 3 back to back at Beverly Comicon and PILcon at the Peabody library, which, aside from a few story edits contain mostly existing material from the webcomic.

Issue #4 is the first issue of nearly entirely new material that has never seen the light of day on the website. I’m releasing it as a minicomic next month at a book signing and comic workshop at Paper Asylum in Beverly, MA.

I’ll be starting work on the final issue—#5 of 5—soon and plan to release it in the spring. After that… new graphic novel!

If you missed Issues 1-3, don’t worry. You can catch up at Paper Asylum or find me at M.I.C.E. in October. You can also read them right here on the website.

New Scene – News Flash (Part 1 of 2)

Page 108 Hey, folks! First part of a much longer scene, here. This one took a little longer than expected, mostly due to unplanned illustration work that’s been coming my way. Also, I wanted to make sure I roughed out the entire scene before I went back to do the inks and finishing work. I’m not going to promise that the next update will be quicker in coming, though. There’s another 10 pages to go, yet.

My neck is doing well, at least. Not quite back to drawing full-time, and there are still good days and bad, but all in all it’s healing, even if it’s going slower than I would like. I will say that doing daily yoga stretching and exercise is helping a great deal.

Also, in the spirit of full disclosure, I should mention that in addition to doing illustration work as it comes in, I’m also going to be dividing my time this summer on a side-project with Batman Strikes writer Russell Lissau called STRANGER, that will be appearing in an upcoming issue of Omega Comics Presents. It’s a cute story of a girl who goes to school in space, so think Star Trek meets Miyazaki. It’s my first foray into all-ages comics, and I’m really excited to have a chance to try some new things with it.

Don’t worry, I’ll post some preview stuff here as I can. However, if you don’t hear from me, it’s not because I’m dead. I just don’t like to constantly post to the world that nothing big is happening at the moment (yes, I think that must be in violation of one of the basic rules of the social internet these days, but that’s just how it goes). I will share when there is something worth sharing.

Again, thank you guys so much for your patience!

New Scene – “Discovery”

Page 107 Just a quick appetizer of a scene to let you know that both me and the comic are still alive.  I’ve been writing like a madman lately, doing a must-needed rewrite to the ending of the book.  Also doing some illustration gigs and getting ahead on the thumbnails for the comic.

As for my health, things are looking good. However, the remedy seems to mean more moving and less sitting, so I still can’t pull long stints at the drawing desk. Still pacing myself, but I’m seeing (or rather, feeling) big improvements. Exercise, stretching and taking regular breaks definitely seem to be doing the trick.

The next scene is the big one, so I’ll be breaking it into bite-sized chunks again. First bit will probably go up in a couple of weeks. I’ll give you a heads up when to expect it.
